General Counsel
Gregg Christensen recently joined Cottonwood Capital as a Principal and General Counsel. His primary duties and responsibilities are overseeing and coordinating all legal aspects of Cottonwood’s business including: negotiating and preparing contracts, conducting due diligence, assisting with financing and managing Cottonwood’s organizational structure. Mr. Christensen also assists with Company operations and is a member of the Executive and Investment Committees.
Prior to joining Cottonwood Capital, Mr. Christensen was a Principal, Managing Director and General Counsel of Cherokee & Walker; a Utah based Investment Company focused on real estate. Mr. Christensen was instrumental in the formation of Cottonwood Capital through his role at Cherokee & Walker. He also was involved in the formation, ownership and management of Wentworth Development, a land acquisition and development company; Rimrock Construction, a commercial construction company which had the 7th highest dollar volume of permits issued across the Wasatch Front in 2006; and Rimrock Development, an extension of Rimrock Construction which focuses on retail and office development. Additionally, Cherokee owned Wentworth Senior Living Services which developed and managed Senior Care facilities until it was sold in 2006. At the time of its sale, Wentworth was one of the largest Senior Care providers in Utah. Mr. Christensen has been involved in over 500 million dollars of real estate transactions in various asset classes over the past several years, as well as various other private equity transactions.
Previously, Mr. Christensen practiced law with Nelson & Senior in Salt Lake City. His areas of practice included Real Estate, Corporate and Commercial law. He is a member of the Utah State Bar, as well as the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
Mr. Christensen holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Utah and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law.
